Runway (The film)

Legendary filmmaker Tareque Masud's film Runway Release in the year 2010. The story of the film centers around the youth Ruhul, who lives with his family in a small hut next to the runway of the international airport. His mother Rahima struggles to support the family by selling milk from a cow bought with a micro credit loan.

Runway

The film Runway started after sometime. This film based on our daily life and also explained the conspiracy of ill politics of our country. The plot of the movie grew up with a poor family who lives in a slum next to an airport of Dhaka. Ruhul, a Madrasah (Islamic Educational institute) dropout student, was disappointed and frustrated because of his unemployment despite of his restless effort. Ruhul's sister who works in a garment factory. She is the bread winner of the family. Ruhul’s father left the country for earning to middle east. Ruhul’s mother bought a cow with the help of micro credit loan. Rahima struggles to support the family by selling milk from her cow. The story began with Ruhul who roams around pointlessly and learnt computer in his uncle’s cyber cafe. There, he meets with a boy named Arif who is a computer savvy boy, he is bold-looking, courageous, open minded and a little bit helpful to Ruhul.

Runway

Ruhul was searching for the right direction and path to get Allah. He finds Arif seems to be the right man to him who can take him to his desired place and dream. But Arif takes him at such a place which is very dangerous and illegal, and where death is the only result. With the assistance of Arif, Ruhul joins an Islamic extremist party. He was trained under that team and was preparing himself for the suicidal mission but after an unsuccessful mission of Arif, Ruhul realised that this is not the right path to get closer to Allah, then he decides to go back home.

Runway

Meanwhile Arif is injured by a Suicidal bomb crash and Ruhul’s uncle is caught by the police with a blame that he shelters extremists. Ruhul falls in love with her sister’s friend Sheuli who was stalked by stalker and later left her house and starts to live in another place. The film has the happy ending when Ruhul as well as his father returned home from abroad.

Some scenes of the movie are mind blowing. Such as, a boy was targeting airplane by his sling and his angry face signified the grimace to the capitalist of the society. Another scene of this film caught our eyes is, Ruhul’s face was being washed with cow’s milk by his mother's help.
